Abstract

This article describes some aspects of linearised theory of water waves in the context of current research interests in this area. After a brief introduction, the basic equations in the linearised theory of water waves along with their general solution, concepts of scattering and radiation problems, breakwaters and finally trapped waves are presented without going through the details of mathematical analysis involved in these problems. This may motivate the readers to feel interested in water wave problems.
